Abbaye de Villers | Villers abbey

What an amazing location! The magical light... the desolate atmosphere... the crumbling walls with shadows cast of trees and hanging plants... reminiscing of a history long lost. I suggested to visit the ruins of Villers abbey with Julie and Yannick, who held their ceremony in the nearby town of Lasne near Brussels. The cistercian abbey was founded in the 12th century by Saint Bernard and is located in the town of Villers-la-Ville in the Walloon Brabant province of Wallonia - Belgium. The church, its cloister, the prison and many inner gardens served as our backdrop. For many years I wanted to visit this site and create portraits and scenes in my personal visual style but still relating to the identity of the couple and this ancient location. Julie and Yannick are very relaxed and loving so I created a calm and still emotionally powerful character. In a gentle way we strolled around, halted at quarters where soft light awaited us... and created together this work of art. Please enjoy!
