The forest

September is a month where different seasons meet… at the end of the summer we experience indian summer and even colder autumn days. The light shifts from stark to soft, especially during golden hour in the evening. There is a forest I like very much because of its colours and sloped hills, where the sun simmers through the leaves in a truely unique way. Combined with my special lenses I try to catch that magic, supporting the love there is between two great people. I had a fantastic time with Kim and Francis and couldn’t have hoped for a better combination : their love and friendship… on a stunning indian summer evening… amidst the silent woods.

Abbaye de Villers | Villers abbey

What an amazing location! The magical light... the desolate atmosphere... the crumbling walls with shadows cast of trees and hanging plants... reminiscing of a history long lost. I suggested to visit the ruins of Villers abbey with Julie and Yannick, who held their ceremony in the nearby town of Lasne near Brussels. The cistercian abbey was founded in the 12th century by Saint Bernard and is located in the town of Villers-la-Ville in the Walloon Brabant province of Wallonia - Belgium. The church, its cloister, the prison and many inner gardens served as our backdrop. For many years I wanted to visit this site and create portraits and scenes in my personal visual style but still relating to the identity of the couple and this ancient location. Julie and Yannick are very relaxed and loving so I created a calm and still emotionally powerful character. In a gentle way we strolled around, halted at quarters where soft light awaited us... and created together this work of art. Please enjoy!

Fotoshoot Liesbeth & Tom

We had a really nice and relaxed time shooting a destination photoshoot with Liesbeth & Tom. They asked for a 'natural' vibe and gave their full trust. Key for me was to create a romantic and spontaneous series. I used the direct and indirect natural light, the many expressive colours of the forest, all elements where the Summilux lenses excel. This is the result...

Elopement to the forest

"to elope = to run away secretly, especially with a lover"

Elopements have always been one of the most romantic and mysterious parts of romances. Secretly running off with your loved one, to an idyllic place in nature. I envisioned the love of this gorgious couple creating still-life paintings and portraits, using the soft sun rays casting through the trees in this enchanted forest series. Enjoy ;-)
